When man-made countertop materials were introduced in the 1960's, manufacturers established strict certification standards to protect quality and mitigate liability. Achieving the results customers expect requires significant skill, specialized tooling, and adherence to safety protocols.
A critical concern in our industry is the risk of silicosis. While materials such as Corian or Staron produce "nuisance dust", quartz fabrication requires rigorous safety measures. We have invested nearly one million dollars to ensure all our fabrication is performed using wet methods, which is the approved standard to eliminate dust and mitigate this health threat.
To maintain status as a Certified Fabricator, a company must operate a wet or dust-free facility, use manufacturer-specified tooling, maintain a professional showroom, and carry appropriate insurance and credit. Major manufacturers, such as Dupont, perform random audits to ensure warranty compliance.
I am bringing this to your attention because some entities in the industry are violating these standards by selling name-brand quartz slabs to uncertified fabricators. These are often "Grade B" slabs with defects and no warranty - details frequently withheld from the consumer. Many of these uncertified operations lack the legitimacy to support their work should issues arise.
We regularly receive inquiries from uncertified fabricators attempting to purchase slabs from us. If these entities were properly certified, they would be able to purchase directly from the distributors. Unfortunately, this "black market" activity is often overlooked by the industry at large.
Please ensure you are working with a legitimate, certified professional to protect your investment and ensure your product remains fully warrantied.
